AU MOULIN ANGLAIS

Bed and breakfast

Welcome to Nora and Alain Serrat's bed and breakfast in the Chinault area of Issoudun in the heart of the Berry region.
The English mill is located on the corner of the avenue de Chinault and the route du Guerriau. It was once called 'le moulin à tan'(Tan mill) also known as 'Le Moulin à écorce' (bark mill). It was built on the site of an English cotton mill(1816) and its pretty pink and aubergine colours are a legacy from its former English owners.

The mill is attached to the main house which has been refurbished tastefully.
It is surrounded by impressive grounds (2500 m²) which were once landscaped as an English garden. The split level grounds are planted with many fruit trees, rose trees, and have a lawn and a pond.
The Tournemine river (which in the past the cotton mill depended on) runs along the house.
Two wooden bridges allow access to the house.

The mill is only 10 minute walk from the city centre yet it is in the most peaceful part of Issoudun.. In the nearby Parc de Frapesle where XIX century French author, Balzac, came to stay), you can enjoy walks, bicycle rides and horse drawn carriage rides.

Issoudun itself is a market town which offers many facilities such as a swimming pool with a wave machine, an ice rink, a museum, a large library and a concert hall. The station is only 3minutes drive.
A walk around this medieval city will let you discover Saint-Cyr Church, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the White Tower, Saint Roch museum and pleasant narrow medieval streets.
